Research Experience

Ph.D. Research

Drone Remote Sensing for Early Detection of Rice Blast Disease

  • Developed DL models using Ground and UAV-based RGB, multispectral, thermal, and hyperspectral data
  • Integrated Hyperion & PRISMA satellite data for enhanced spectral analysis
  • Designed indices for early detection of asymptomatic rice blast stages
  • Built real-time field monitoring system (30 FPS) on Jetson Nano
  • Created decision support tools for weather-based disease forecasting
Future Research: Real time monitoring and management practices using 5G technology.
M.Sc. Research

Mapping of Soil Moisture Using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data in Tamil Nadu

  • Estimated soil moisture using Sentinel-1A C-band SAR (VV/VH)
  • Conducted ground-truth validation (gravimetric method) across time series
  • Applied SNAP-based SAR preprocessing and corrections
  • Developed Multiple Linear Regression models using backscatter and incidence angle
  • Achieved strong validation (R² = 0.73, low RMSE) and Generated soil moisture maps
Ongoing Research: A Google Earth Engine based Application for Monitoring Soil Moisture using Sentinel 1 Synthetic Aperture Radar Data (Abstract submitted: The 2nd International Electronic Conference on Land, MDPI)
